Une petite erreur de parcours ce matin ma laissé à l'extérieur de cette ancienne ville royale, à la nouvelle station de bus. Mon programme avait été d'arriver au centre mais bon, j'ai pris cela comme un signe et j'ai pris une chambre sur place... Au moins comme cela je serais sur place pour mon bus de demain matin et je n'aurais pas à faire les 5 km qui me sépare du centre. Le petit déjeuner de l'hôtel pour voyageurs 100% indiens était un peu degeu, je rêve d'oeufs au plat, de toasts, d'une salade de fruit ou du muesli, demain ou après demain avec de la chance. Le ventre plein, direction le centre ville et le temple très ancien, fait de grés ce qui change un peu des versions très colorés de peintures et plus kitsch des autres temples visités à ce jour. Un immense Shiva lingam est la pièce maîtresse du lieu, protégé par son tout aussi immense Nandi. Le palais est un peu plus loin et un peu plus bof sans grand intérêt architectural ou tout de moins je ne l'ai pas vu, par contre une très belle collection de sculptures de bronze en remplisse certaines salles avec surtout de sublimes Shiva dansant et deux magnifiques bouddha en pierre. En ce qui concerne la ville, RAS, pas de boutiques particulièrement intéressantes ou de marchés spectaculaire. Donc retour à l'hôtel pour un repos et mater un peu la TV dans la chambre aéré, propre mais bruyante, je m'y fait. Demain c'est Tiruchirapalli, une ville mythique avec un rocher qui domine la ville et qui serait le plus vieux rocher au monde.
Some confusion with the bus conductor this morning left me outside the city at the 'New bus stand', well I didn't fuss too much and just found a hotel close by and in the end it's a better option than staying in town as this is where the buses go for the long destinations so it's will be a stone through away for me tomorrow morning at dawn when I catch my bus to Tiruchirapalli (tricky). After a not so good south indian breakfast at the hotel (I am dreaming of some fried eggs, toast, fruit and muesli... Hopefully in the next few days), I got on a local bus for the city center and the main temple, which is a fortified very old architecture made of stone which is very beautiful and makes a change from the more kitsch temples I have seen till now. This one is a Shiva temple with a massive Lingam as well as a massive Nandi bull. The other attraction here is the city palace, well not much to say about that, it's not real nice at all, but has a museum that has some very nice bronze and stone pieces with some amazing dancing Shivas and Budhas. Otherwise the rest of the city is pretty uninteresting, I am hoping tricky will be a more pleasure full destination, let's see tomorrow.
