Andamans 01 - Formalités et Ferry

All went smoothly as I had asked to be collected at the airport by the resort where I was staying so this helped greatly with getting from the airport onto the ferry and then to the resort. So many registrations had to be made with the authorities at each stage of the transfers controlling each movement of foreigners on the islands.

L'arrivée sur les îles Andaman et sa capitale et unique aeroport Port Blair se déroula en douceur mais avec une procédure de délivrance de permis de séjour et une suite de formalités d'enregistrement sur des registres a chaque étape du parcours car am premiere escape ici est sur une des îles les plus touristiques de l'archipel à deux heures de ferry et portant le nom de Havelock. Ayant opté pour un package complet pour passer min brevet de plongée sous marine en mer avec hébergement, repas et transferts à permis de passer avec douceur de l'aéroport au port, puis au ferry et être livré tout cuit à ma hutte.

Une fois sur le ferry, nous nous installons sur le pont avec d'autres occidentaux, un couple de retraités irlandais qui étaient mes voisins sur l'avion ainsi qu'une prof finlandaise et un belge qui allaient au même 'resort' que moi. Un groupe d'indiens de Port Blair en route pour célébrer un mariage le soir même sur l'île de Havelock ont commencés à jouer paisiblement aux cartes avant de commencer à sortir les billets et se déchaîner sur des paris et faire circuler les billets de façon frénétique mais organisée, à l'indienne, et tout cela avec des éclats de rire et de l'excellente humeur. Deux heures plus tard arrivée sur Havelock avec de nouvelles formalités puis arrivée à un très beau 'resort' au nom peu charmant de 'Island Vinnie' qui s'est avéré être un des meilleurs de ce côté de l'île tant au niveau des prestations de plongée que la cuisine et lhebergement sans oublier le personnel charmant et les autres vacanciers assez sympathiques.

Having boarded the ferry that would get me from Port Blair to Havelock island,I headed for the upper deck to be in the fresh air with a Finnish girl and a Belgium guy that were going to the same resort as me as well as an Irish couple that had been my neighbours on the plane. We were quickly joined by a large group of local indian men who were going to celebrate a wedding on Havelock that evening. They started to calmly play cards before getting the bank notes out and making frantic but organised bets on each other in an true indian style with lots of laughs and good humour. Two hours later we arrive at the port and completed another set of formalities before entering the poorly named but truly charming resort 'Island Vinnies' were the quality of the diving, teaching, food and accommodation turned out to be one of the best of the island and probably the best of this side.
